On the 19th November 2010 a group of Hong Kong academics working in the broad area of quantitative finance met in CUHK to explore the possibility of working together more closely. It was agreed that a Hong Kong Consortium of Quantitative Finance would be formed. The ultimate purpose of the Consortium is to leverage on our research strength as well as on a perfect location (HK and China), to create synergy and a big critical mass in the area, and to make our research more influential and relevant to the world. Regular activities to be carried out include (but not limited to) :
- An annual one-day workshop called Quantitative Finance Day where local academics and students will present their works
- Practitioner’s forum: a one-day event where practitioners and academics exchange their researches
- A bi-monthly lecture series with high calibre overseas speakers
- An annual crash course series: a leading figure to give a short course on a topical topic
The member universities of the Consortium currently include Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and University of Hong Kong.
